John Ray: Father of Natural History

"There is for a free man no occupation more worthy and delightful than to contemplate the beauteous works of nature and honour the infinite wisdom and goodness of GOD." -- John Ray (1660)

Give Glory unto the Lord

1 Give unto the Lord, O ye mighty, give unto the Lord glory and strength. 2 Give unto the Lord the glory due unto his name; worship the Lord int he beauty of holiness.  3 The voice of the Lord is upon the waters: the God of glory thundereth: the lord is upon many waters.  4 The voice of the Lord is powerful; the voice of the Lord is full of majesty . 5 The voice of the Lord breaketh the cedars; yea, the Lord breaketh the cedars of Lebanon...  7 The voice of the Lord divideth the flames of fire.  Psalms 29: 1-5, 7

Bible Verse

" O the depth of the riches  both of the wisdom and knowledge of God! how unsearchable are his judgments, and His ways past finding out! For who hath known the mind of the Lord? or who hath been his counsellor? Or who hath first given to him, and it shall be recompensed unto him again? For of him and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen ," (Romans 11:33-36).

Thunderstorm

Thunderstorm  By Natalia S.N.    Thunder could have been heard, but no one was there to hear it.  No clouds were in the sky, yet—Just thunder. No lighting either. The signal for rain; the alarm of the thunderstorm: thunder.                      As dark clouds rolled in, cold wind rushed through the ruins searching for someone to hug. The trees of the near forest shivered at the signal for rain.                      Then came the smell. The rich smell of wet dirt, announcing the coming of the rain.          Though no one was there to smell it, it came behind the wind. The smell settled on the chosen area while the wind flew around. The Rain clouds came along filled with raindrops. Then, those clouds let the raindrops fall.  The raindrops caught the dirt as they fell upon more dirt, which they turned into mud.  Down they came cleaning up the place; tidying all things until they were swimming in the small puddles that were already becoming streams.                      Rain

The Love of God

" For I am convinced [and continue to be convinced—beyond any doubt] that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present  and  threatening, nor things to come, nor powers,   nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing, will be able to separate us from the [unlimited] love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Romans 8:38-39). On Universal Design

"Can it be by accident that all birds, beasts, and men have their right and left side alike shaped (except in their bowels); and just two eyes, and no more, on either side of the face; and just two ears on either side [of] the head; and a nose with two holes; and either two forelegs or two wings or two arms on the shoulders, and two legs on the hips, and no more?                  "Whence arises this uniformity in all their outward  shapes but from the counsel and contrivance of an Author? Whence is it that the eyes of all sort of living creatures are transparent to the very bottom, and the only transparent members int he body, having on the outside a hard transparent skin and within transparent humors, with a crystalline lens in the middle and a pupil before the lens, all of them so finely shaped and fitted for vision that no artist can mend them?              "Did blind chance know that there was light and what was its refraction, and fit the eyes of all creat

But Not Forsaken

By Natalia S.N.           The book But Not Forsaken by Helen Good Benneman portrays the life of a Mennonite family in their struggle to escape Soviet territory. So far, they had successfully escaped Russia and had a home in Germany. Suddenly, the family was separated. The two parties headed west hoping to find each other and passed through incredible adventures in their travels. This book teaches that God will never forsake us and that He can use anyone to accomplish His will.                   But Not Forsaken first shows that God will not abandon those that trust in Him.  In chapters 9 and 10, Maria and her two children do not have a place to pass the night during their harsh journey. As little Rosie weeps, an old lady accepts to lodge them in her own house despite the danger (74). They eventually leave his house and cross the border. In chapter 15, God puts the Mennonite Central Committee to provide them w
